The first annual “Quest for Hope, the Ultimate Tampa Bay Scavenger Challenge” was held on May 19th, 2007. The event was a success; all the teams had fun performing the crazy and embarrassing challenges and all want to come back next year! One of the crazy challenges was to sing “You lost that lov’n feeling” to a table at Channelside and every team did it! We had drinking, sexy pole dancing and zombie challenges. Do not worry; we have Giga Bytes of evidence! The Children’s Cancer Center and all 30+ of the volunteers were very impressed with our efforts! All this was followed by a fabulous VIP dinner and party at the Ybor Museum, catered and sponsored by The Columbia. The over all winners received an 18-seat Brad Richards Luxury Box for a Lightning game followed by a meet and greet with Brad Richards!
I want to make a special thanks to April and Tracy and their families for taking the time and effort in making this event happen. Many long and late hours were spent creating the PR, sponsorship materials, walking the venues and convincing managers and owners to participate. Any time they spent on the challenge took many hours of time from their kids and significant others. Many times we wonder how things get done while we sit back. It is ladies like these who make our lives easier. They sacrificed much for a great cause…helping children with cancer!
I also want to thank the krewe volunteers who sacrificed their time helping the event from walking the venues, producing print material, obtaining sponsorships, taking photos of the entire event, manning the venues and beating the bushes for teams to the point of entering teams themselves as a show of support. Donations of time, whether it be small or large chunks, is very much appreciated and remembered. Thank you.
And thanks to those members who cancelled or delayed work and vacation trips, limped in 7 months pregnant or otherwise sacrificed their Saturday to come and support the cause. We definitely needed you. Thanks to You!
