16th Annual Great American Cleanup Date: Saturday, April 18th Time: 8:30am-11:30am Place: Cypress Point Park
Celebrate Earth Day by joining us for the 16th Annual Great American Cleanup which is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2009. Registration will start at 8:30AM and the cleanup will begin at 9:00AM. This is a national event that is sponsored by Keep American Beautiful and here locally by Keep Hillsborough County Beautiful.
Last spring we had 127 volunteers for this event at Cypress Point Park and we picked up about 600 lbs of trash. The park has now been officially dedicated and there are rest room facilities out there. I hope you join us this year! So, please take a look at your calendars now and let me know as soon as possible if you and your family can participate. Remember all those community service credits your kids need!

- More to come
We will start registration at 8:30 AM and start the cleanup at 9:00 AM. I would like to tackle Cypress Point Park again to keep the beach and mangrove areas clean. My guess is we will wrap things up by 11:00 or 11:30 AM. We may have some teams tackle the small creek area at the very southeast end of the park – there are mangroves that trap a lot of debris in that area and most groups never get up to that end of the park.
Also, the 2009 Florida Coastal Cleanup will be on Saturday, September 19, 2009 – so please mark your calendars for that event (I don’t need to know about your participation in that one yet!)
