“The International Coastal Cleanup is the world’s oldest and largest volunteer effort to clean up our marine environment. Each year, volunteers remove and record data on the trash and debris collected from their local beaches, rivers, lakes and streams – along shore-lines and underwater. Since 1986, over six million volunteers in 127 countries have participated in this global event involving every major body of water on the planet.” The cleanup is sponsored by the Ocean Conservancy globally and by Keep Hillsborough County Beautiful here locally in the Tampa Bay area.
