The Great American Cleanup takes place on the third Saturday in April (April 19). This event gives community groups the opportunity to show pride and encourages volunteerism by cleaning and beautifying parks, neighborhoods and shorelines.
Every year, thousands of volunteers join forces for the Great American Cleanup in April to pick up trash along beaches, lakes, roads and parks around the country. Last year, about 2,036 volunteers in Hillsborough County cleaned 96 miles of roads and waterways and picked up more than 62,040 pounds of trash. We will have several sites within Hillsborough County that volunteers can help clean up on April 19, 2008. At this time we are deciding where those sites will be and will have a list up on our website shortly: www.khcbonline.org. If you have any questions or would like more details, please feel free to give us a call at 813-960-5121.
